I am
going to try something new – or at least new for me – with this blog. I have looked at a number of blogs where
people have committed to doing something every day for a year or for another
long period of time, such as paint a picture or take a new photograph. I love this concept, but I am not good with
commitment – I am not even a fan of commitment.
However I do like a little structure along with a bit of a
challenge. So rather than try to do
something for a year – which sounds overwhelmingly daunting to me - I thought
that 30 days would be a semi-reasonable amount of time to try to do something. After the 30 days were over, I can move on to
something else.
In April I worked on 30 days of habits –
adding a new one or revising an old one each day. In May I worked on identifying what I believe
and meditating and journaling on each item.
Then I thought it might be interesting to try to do a 30 Day Challenge
and blog about it. I made a surprisingly
long list of things that I would like to do.
I finally decided on the one that I will do for June. So for June (which also happens to be my
birthday month), I am going to make one Artist Trading Card (ATC) every day.
An ATC
is a piece of art that is 2 ½ inches by 3 ½ inches – the size of the bubble gum
trading cards you may have bought as a child.
They are usually collected and traded – shared, not sold. The 2 ½ by 3 ½ size is a small canvas for the
artist to use to express a specific concept or just see where this small blank
slate takes you. The size also allows
them to be stored in the trading card page protectors you can buy for a 3 ring
notebook,
So let’s
see how long I can keep this up. :)
