My
first post this month was of my Christmas tree at night. It only had lights on it at this time. Today’s picture is my tree with all the decorations
and all the memories that go with the decorations. Now that Christmas is over I find myself in
my usual dilemma. When do I take down
the Christmas tree? I can take it down
right after New Year, but I also know that Scout loves to sleep under the tree
(as you can see in the picture). I have a
friend that takes her tree down the day after Christmas and another one that
leaves her tree up all year. So I ask
you all – when do you take your tree down?

Day 29 - Snow People
As we
get farther away from Christmas, I am trying to look at more generic holiday
ornaments as opposed to obvious Christmas items. These two little snow people are favorites of
mine. I have had them for a while now, but I don’t remember where and when I got
them (and that is a little bit sad to me).
I like snow man images and I have memories of many fun snowmen that I
have made over the years especially when I lived in northern climates. I do however have one fond memory of Scout
climbing on a small snowman we built one year in the front yard when we had a
significant snowfall.

Day 28 - Cards
One
more enjoyable thing about the holiday season is connecting with different
friends through Christmas cards. (At
least in terms of the cards they send to me.)
I try to write my letters sometime during the year – and often that
doesn’t happen. I do however enjoy all
the cards and pictures and letters that arrive this time of year. I am happy to display them – usually through
mid-January. This picture is only a few
of the ones that are on my mantel this year.

Day 27 - Memory Elf
Laying
on a lower branch of my Christmas tree is a little gift topper that has been
another long-time traditional ornament.
He doesn’t have an attached hanger or even a hole to put a wire hanger
through. I remember him arriving in a
box of Christmas presents from my aunt and uncle one year. I think he was a gift decoration, but he had
gotten separated from him “gift” and was just in the box on his own. I didn’t want him to feel left out and so I
gently set him on a lower branch of the tree where he could lay on the
pine. (I also thought at the time that
maybe the cat would want to play with him if he was on a lower branch.) At the end of the holiday, he was packed away
with the other Christmas decorations.
When we decorated the next year, I found him and returned him to his “spot”
and did so on many subsequent years. He
now rests on the lowest branch of my tree each year. (He looks like he is hanging on the tree in this picture, but he is actually balanced on the branches. I took the picture from above.)

Day 26 - Bubble Light
This
picture is of my Christmas bubble light night light. I wanted to see if I could take a picture
that showed the bubbles in the tube (which actually were moving pretty fast
while I was taking the photos). I tried
different lighting options and this one used a flash and was the one that
showed the most detail with the bubbles.

Day 25 - Merry Christmas!
Merry
Christmas everyone. As I mentioned I
might earlier, I did try to film Scout while she/we were opening her Christmas
presents. The videos are not great, but
at least it is a start. The one that I selected to post is “Scout is Not Impressed”.
We had
a wonderful Christmas and made a big mess and as you can see tired ourselves
out. I hope you all had fun Christmases
as well.
