Today I
worked on the post card early in the day.
I used two blank 4x6 cards with a purple plastic index card divider in
the middle. Before putting the pieces
together, I used different stamp pads (silver – yellow – red) to create a
background. I also lined up the blank
cards and used a couple of paper punches to make designs that would show the
purple through the card. I glued the
three pieces together and then added a few extra stickers to jazz it up. I really like how this one it turned out and
may try some variations on this technique in the future.

Day 6 - Shrink - Shrank - Shrunk
Today’s
postcard is multi-layered, though you can probably only see the top layers. For sturdiness, I sandwiched a 4x6 piece of recycled
cereal box in between two index cards. (A
white one for the back and a yellow one for the front) Over the top of the yellow card I added a
clear plastic index card divider for structure and texture. I then went through one of my many collections of “stuff”
and found these shrink art pieces that I had made years and years ago. I remember doing these with a friend in high
school thinking we would make jewelry out of them. I have kept them all this time and realized
that it was time to let the out of the drawer and into the world. So I picked out my favorites and glued them
with mod podge to the card. This is
another one of those postcards that may not survive an actual voyage through
the mail system.

Day 6 - Funnines
Today’s
postcard is relatively simple, but it was fun to make. I used today’s comic section of the newspaper
and collaged some of the various cartoon characters onto the card. There was no rhyme or reason to the collage. I just glued them down as I cut them out and
then trimmed the post card edge.

Day 4 - Simply
Today I
have been going through and sorting and simplifying rooms in my house. My goal was the whole house….I made it
through two rooms and I guess I should be happy to have gotten that far with
the amount of stuff I seem to have. One
of the things I have is boxes of beautiful photography from my aunt and
uncle. For today’s post card I scanned
one of these pictures and added a quote to it.
I think I may spend an upcoming 30 day challenge using their pictures
and quotes because these pictures should be seen and shared.

Day 3 - Impressions
Today’s
challenge was to use clay and emboss it with rubber stamps. I rolled out a thin piece of model magic
because I knew it would be very light when it dried and I it is what I had available. I then chose rubber stamps
and pressed them into the clay and then used paints to cover the card and
highlight the images. My first try used two different stamps was
multicolored with liquid water color.
I was
not overly pleased with how this turned out, but I did like the process and the potential.
So I went ahead and did another one. For this one I used a single stamp and gold
acrylic paint with some shimmer additive.
I was much happier with how this one turned out. Both will need several days to dry before I
can determine if I can actually send the through the mail safely.

Day 2 - Re-play
Today I
was challenged to play with crayons with the freedom of a child. I found a set of old Amaco crayons that my
father had given me from his art supplies.
I remembered that one of the things I liked to do with crayons was to
make a big page of swirls with a black crayon and then use the other colors to
fill in the spaces created by the swirls.
I thought it looked like stained glass.
So for today’s post card that it was I did and I think it looks like my “inner
child” did it and I guess that should be okay.

Day 1 - Go For It!
It is a
new month and time to start a new 30 day challenge. Yay!
The last few days I have debated a variety of options and thought I had
come to a decision……and then I changed my mind…..several times. I finally decided to do 30 days of post
cards. I can make them any way that I
want and who knows I may send a few of them out to some of you through the
month.
Here is today's postcard using an old photograph that I found several years ago. It looks like it is from the 1950s and I love that this guy (maybe it is my dad - Is it dad?) just decided to do a handstand in his front yard in the middle of what looks like winter. Maybe he is happy that there is no snow - or maybe he has been working on learning how to do a handstand for weeks and finally achieved his goal. (That is the story I went with when I added the quote.)
The back of this and probably most of the future postcards looks like this:
