I
believe I have mentioned in this blog (quite possibly more than once) that I love
books. So of course, I have made
miniature books. There are three “big”
miniature books (now there is an oxymoron) that are about ¾ inches tall and one
smaller miniature book that is ½ inch tall.
They are all bound blank books with sewn signatures (inner pages of the
book) and bound like a hard cover book with three piece bindings and covered
with decorative papers.

Day 23 - Mail
Today I
made a few miniature envelopes and letters. I was in a “mailing” mood. They were simple to make with some online
examples shrunk down to miniature size.
I made small, legal and manila envelopes.

Day 22 - Meditation Cushion
Today’s
miniature is a meditation cushion. The
inspiration for this miniature comes from the fact that I am currently working
on a full size meditation cushion from this same fabric. I wanted to make it a box cushion and decided
to make a smaller practice one first.
That is when I realized that I could make my practice one really, really small
and make it today’s miniature. I am pleased with how the boxed edges came out and so I feel quite optimistic
about the final full size cushion. Perhaps
I will include a picture of the finished cushion as soon as I have it done. (Sarah – I think this is fabric that you gave
me – do you recognize it?)

Day 21 - Magazines
Today was Creative Fun Day at the house! (See the post about the day at my other blog Muse Services. Today’s miniature is magazines.
They are made with folded paper and covers from past issues of various
magazines – Time – O and Craft, Paper, Scissors. The Time magazine cover was taken from the
Internet. The O magazines and Craft,
Paper, Scissors were actual magazines that I had at home. I scanned both the front and the backs of
these magazines to make them more detailed.
Again I had some trouble taking the photos. (Perhaps one of these months, I will spend the 30 days focusing on improving my photography skills.) :)

Day 20 - Origami
Today I
spent most of the day at a conference. I
tried to think of something I might be able to work on at the conference. I thought I would be able to do some
miniature origami while I was there without being too disruptive. What I didn’t count on was how dark the room
turned out to be. I made a few things, but they didn’t turn out well as I
couldn’t see the folds on the tiny paper.
Luckily the “practice” at least helped me to whip up these three origami
standards (cup, box and bird) when I got home.
They are made from one inch squares which makes them a little bigger
than the 1 foot to 1 inch miniature ratio, but maybe I will try to make some
even smaller ones at a later date. (The hardest part of this was trying to get a good picture for this post. I took over 30 pictures and this was still the best I could come up with.)

Day 19 - Fruit
Today I
am sharing a variety of fruit on a fruit plate.
All the pieces were made out of Model Magic (except the apple stems
which are from a bush in my front yard) and colored with either a paint pen or
a colored Sharpie. I have included some
apples, bananas, oranges and a grape fruit on the “artistic” fruit
platter. I also made a little bowl of
cherries. However looking at them in the
pictures, they seem a bit big in contrast to the other fruits, so perhaps it is
actually a bowl of plums. So for today –
life is just a bowl of plums.
