Today I
knew that I wanted to do some collage type work. The only “plan” was to work with scraps of
homemade paper. I had assumed they would
be in bigger shapes, but I found a number of strips of handmade paper in the
scrap box, so I used them as stripes.
Earlier I pulled an envelope out of what I thought was a box of new
envelopes. To my surprise I found this
girl and cat and dress (and a few other pieces) in the envelope. I must have thought the envelope was empty
and put it in the new box awhile back. I
think my friend Ruth cut out these images and gave them to me. (The cutting is too precise for it to be my
handiwork.) I knew as soon as I saw them
that I would be using them with today’s postcard. It just seemed meant to be.

Day 24 - Change
I found
this graphic quote on Pinterest a few months back and today I combined it with
one of my graphic flowers I drew freehand with WordArt. It would be an inspiring and encouraging note
to send to someone that needed to hear it.

Day 23 - Beautiful
My
friend Rachel took this photo of Scout at one of our Creative Fun Days. I couldn’t resist turning it into a post
card. A post card that I believe speaks for
itself.

Day 22 - Relax
Today’s
postcard is of a picture that my dad painted several years ago. It is one of my favorites and I wanted to share
it since he doesn’t seem to be adding anything to his blog lately. Plus it looked relaxing and peaceful. Today was a bit of a busy day with school
starting and a little reminder to relax and enjoy the moment is always
appreciated.

Day 21 - Dalai Lama Paper Doll
Every
week I get a sample link from Dover publishing with clip art and books and
pictures. Sometimes they send paper
doll images of actresses or literary and historical characters. One week they sent me this paper doll image of
the Dalai Lama with some stylish robes.
This made me laugh and I think it probably would have made the Dalai
Lama laugh as well. I thought it would
make a fun postcard even if it would make him a tiny, but amusing paper doll.

Day 20 - Read
I love
books (as mentioned previously in this blog) and I love Harper Lee. She wrote my favorite book of all time, “To
Kill a Mockingbird”, so this quote has a great deal of meaning for me. I was able to do a lot of reading this summer
(a lot) and the best books for me are always the ones that challenge my
thinking in some way. I know I won’t be
able to read as many books in the next few months as I did in the last few, but
I am committed to reading a little of something (hopefully a good book) each
day.

Day 19 - Angels Everywhere
This is
a card base I made several days ago working with the ink pads and sponges. I decided to transfer something on to it and
chose my graphic angels. Although I didn’t
get the ink as dark as I would have liked it, I used the printer/sticker paper
transfer technique. I learned how to get
the Word Art to be printed out in the reverse format for the transfer to
work. I like the idea of angels being
everywhere, though not always easy to see.
