This is
a butterfly ball. This modular piece of
origami is made from 12 small squares that are simply folded into water bomb
bases. They are connected into the ball
pattern seen here. The reason it is called a butterfly ball is that when you
throw it up in the air and hit it, the pieces flutter to the ground a bit like
butterflies. It can be a challenging
process to put the pieces together into the ball, but it is lots of fun to
watch the “butterflies” fly.
